Armor[]
Armor is a special type of equipment that is defensive in nature. It provides protection from bites, injuries from zombies and also against injuries in combat against other squads. Armors range from improvised items like motorcycle helmets to riot equipment and military body armor. Armor pieces are divided by the part of the body they are supposed to protected in four areas: head, torso, legs and arms. Each survivor has a slot for each of them and can equip one piece of armor in every slot.
Every type of armor has different strengths against different types of attack, reflected in their stats, bite resistance, injury resistance and PvP resistance. For example, a football helmet might be great at stopping a zombie from biting a survivor (high bite resistance), but won't do much to stop a bullet to the back of the head (low PvP injury resistance), while a kevlar combat helmet will do the opposite, exposing the face (low bite resistance) but giving better protection in combat versus armed survivors (high PvP resistance).
Armor can be found by scavenging in zones with armor lootability. Every piece of armor takes damage as armored characters move through z-density, and also if the survivor is injured from PvZ or PvP, as this reflects the fact that the damage was absorbed by the armor but failed to protect the character. The protection offered decreases as it becomes damaged. Armor deterioration rate can be reduced with the Armorer skill.
You can equip armor from the inventory management page, where you can drag and drop specific types of armor to slots for each character. A helmet can only be placed in "Head Armor", a vest in "Torso Armor", while the arms and legs also have their own slots. Armor items show up as dark blue. Armor will continue to be damaged if an injury gets through to your survivor
